Dinesh Karthik, a former India wicketkeeper-batsman, evaluated the bowling performance and emphasised the inconsistency of the attack.

Dinesh Karthik expressed his apprehensions regarding the overall calibre of the bowling display when discussing the matter.

Following the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, India’s bowling unit was subjected to scrutiny due to the team’s concession of over 1000 runs in the three games. The three matches in the series, which were played without the presence of critical pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, saw the West Indies score 295, 405 and 352 runs. The third one-day international (ODI) was played at New Chandigarh on October 3, 2026, and the West Indies emerged winner.

Depth issues in the absence of key pace bowlers

Although his economy rate aroused concerns, Kuldeep Yadav emerged as India’s most effective bowler in the series, claiming seven wickets. In addition to Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep, the contributions of other bowlers were restricted. Prasidh Krishna appeared to be the most threatening of the pace options, while Gurnoor Brar conceded 96 runs in the second game, Auqib Nabi conceded 84, and Anshul Kamboj leaked 82 runs. Additionally, India’s bowling troubles were exacerbated by the 20 wides it bowled in the second match.
