Ajinkya Rahane has expressed his support for two Indian debutants in the wake of their performances in the third ODI between India and West Indies, which took place in New Chandigarh on October 3, 2026. In that match, Anshul Kamboj replaced Auqib Nabi in the playing eleven, marking his ODI debut. India was unable to defend 352 runs during the match, as both bowlers encountered difficult conditions on the pitch.

The second ODI saw Auqib Nabi bowl 0-84 in 8.5 overs before being dropped for the third match. Kamboj, a right-arm medium pace bowling all-rounder born on December 6, 2000, finished his debut appearance with a score of 0-82 in nine overs.

It is unnecessary to include a new player in every match: Ajinkya Rahane

The former India batsman underscored the challenge that players encounter when selection decisions are frequently altered between matches. Nabi, a right-arm medium bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, was born on November 4, 1996. He made his international debut in the second ODI on a level pitch that yielded 811 runs. Ajinkya Rahane emphasised that emerging players who are attempting to establish themselves at the international level are faced with uncertainty as a result of inconsistent opportunities.
