David Hemp was named the head coach of the women’s national cricket team by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday. Sarwar Imran, who has been head coach since February 2025 and is anticipated to leave in October, will be replaced by Hemp.
David Hemp, 55, will join the team in Brisbane for the forthcoming ODI tour of Australia, marking the start of his two-year tenure with the national women’s team. His term will expire in September 2028.
David Hemp, who was the batting coach during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in 2025 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year, now has the chance to work with the Bangladesh women’s side once more.
Since taking over as Head Coach of the High Performance (HP) program in May 2023, David Hemp has been a part of the BCB coaching organization. In 2024, he was also designated as the hitting coach for the National Men’s Team. He had been a member of the coaching staff for the men’s team during the 2023 trip of New Zealand before that assignment.

David Hemp has contributed significantly to women’s cricket in the past.
In addition to leading the Victoria State Women’s Team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League, he was the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s National Team from 2020 to 2022.
